“Let the Children Come to Me”

Luke 18:16 — “But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

Summertime is here. One wonderful thing that means is that Vacation Bible School is just around the corner (July 7-11).  Did you know that VBS is the #1 outreach tool for many churches? Churches like ours will share the gospel with more unchurched people during the week of VBS than any other time during the year.

VBS provides an awesome opportunity to meet new children and families in our community. Some of these families might not have a church home. Others might be looking for a new church home. Some might just be looking for something fun and wholesome for their kids to do over the break. In any case, VBS allows our church to serve our community’s families in a special way.

The latest Southern Baptist statistics reveal that some 2,832,379 people participated in VBS last year. There were almost 80,000 professions of faith as a result. These numbers are very encouraging.

Did you know that nearly half of all Americans who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior do so before reaching the age of 13 (43%)? That’s prime VBS age! That’s why VBS is such a big deal!

The number one reason that churches neglect VBS is a lack of volunteers. Won’t you considering serving at our VBS this year? If you would like to lend a hand, please let me know.
